One of the basic tenants of our Christian faith is to help those in need. The brotherhood of St. Luke’s Mission, from its inauguration, held this to be one of its major goals. Currently there are approximately one million refugees living within the current borders of Serbia. These people are for the most part invisible to the rest of the world, as the Serbs have been portrayed in the media as the only aggressors in the former Yugoslavia. These people, expelled from their homes in Croatia, The Krajina, Bosna and Hercegovina, and now from Kosovo, are scattered across Serbia, living in poverty and often in very miserable conditions, with a minimum of the necessities for daily living.

The mission members have organized several humanitarian events. The money collected through these  activities was used to provide footwear for the children refugees from Krajina (Croatia) who live in Deliblato in northern Serbia. Fr. Miodrag Popovic from St. Michael the Archangel Serbian Orthodox Church in Toronto, during his recent visit to Serbia, brought about $15000 Canadian dollars for humanitarian purposes. This was distributed through His Holiness the Serbian Patriarch Pavle, His Grace the Bishop of Raska and Prizren, Artemije, and His Grace, Bishop Atanasije of Hvosno, as well as through the Cathedral church in Belgrade.

St. Luke’s Brotherhood is accepting donations for humanitarian aid. It is a registered  charitable organization, and as such, can issue income tax receipts to Canadian residents. 100% of your donation will be used for charitable purposes, since St. Luke’s brotherhood covers all of its own expenses and overhead.
